Came in because this place was recommended by a server at Liquid Assets. I'm a big fan of this spot. It's a no nonsense chilled out place that is all about the slow and low meats. I had the loaded grilled cheese--it was more of a pulled pork brisket sandwich with cheese and buttered grilled bread. Amazingly rich and quality meat. Also, the milkshake was super thick and delicious.

Great concept of smashing together two different successful restaurants to give you a wide selection! We had the margarita, whiskey sour, a few beers and the special bandera shot trio to start. These drinks are priceyyyy but strong, you get your moneys worth. To eat, some got tacos which were, in their words, “banging, 11/10, phenomenal” and the other half got the bbq with pulled pork sandwiches, the Cuban and sides of coleslaw, mac & cheese collards, and cornbread. Everything was AMAZING can’t wait to go back and try more things off their menu.

Border Bar is new. It's the creation of the group that manages Liquid Assets, Our Harvest, Annabelle's BBQ/Creamery and Barrio Taco. The Border Bar is aptly named: it's between Annabelle's and Barrio Taco and is designed as a "border crossing" (see photos) between the two venues. You get the food menu of both Annabelle's AND Barrio Taco and a unique drink menu as well. Two places in one!
I had the tacos, quesabarria style. The tortillas were infused with consomme and coated with the house-made Oaxaca cheese, then stuffed with beef and other delicious ingredients. The side I ordered was the frijoles (black refried beans), and it was as addicting as crack!
The staff was friendly and very interactive despite the large crowd coming in...it IS summer in OC, after all! Shout out to LeeAnn, our bartender who was on her second day here! Chris was a superhero.
I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!
